10 Spa Treatments for You to Try at Home

10 Spa Treatments for You to Try at Home 2

We all love a nice, luxury spa treatment, for there’s nothing nicer than having a lovely self-pamper to help us de-stress and relax.

However, it can often be costly to go on a spa retreat or book treatments in fancy hotels. It can also take away from the relaxation element if you’re stressing about getting to the spa on time and if it’s busy with lots of other people who had the same idea as you.

Why not enjoy your spa day right from the comfort of your own home?

Late-night pamper sessions are something people love to do as a way of practicing some self-care or making a sleepover with their best pals more enjoyable.

There are some great ways to recreate spa treatments yourself, either with your friends or just when you’ve got the day on your own. They will make you feel relaxed, pampered and give you all the five-star-spa-resort feels.

Below are ten spa treatments for you to try at your own home.

1. Body Scrub

We must exfoliate our body, as it removes old, dead skin cells that can lead your skin to be dry and dull if left. To pamper your body and get shiny, smooth skin, you can make your very own body scrub that would be worthy for any spa day.

Firstly, you should get some brown sugar and olive oil in the ratio of 2:1 and mix them together. Next, to ensure the scrub can really tackle dry skin while also benefiting the skin that is prone to acne, add some manuka honey. Then, to give the scrub a lovely scent, add some essential oil. Orange is a good choice, but ultimately you can go for any scent you like.

Mix all of this thoroughly, pour it into a nice tube or tub, and you will have your very own body scrub. So, to use this in your own spa treatment, run yourself a nice warm shower. Why not play some of your favorite relaxing tunes and light some candles too? It will be soothing!

Once you are in the shower, apply the scrub all over your body, particularly in places that are rough or have a lot of dry skin. Rub in circular motions. An exfoliating glove can be a great tool to use, but your hands will also do the job perfectly.

Wash off the body scrub, and your skin should feel silky smooth.

2. Foot Mask

When going to the spa, feet can often be the thing people neglect, with many often going for a hand treatment instead. However, foot treatments can be highly relaxing and are an essential part of the body to look after, especially if you’re someone who does lots of running or other exercises.

A lovely, at-home foot treatment is to make your own refreshing foot mask. Get equal amounts of sea salt, olive oil, cornmeal, and oatmeal and mix them together. Next, add a few tablespoons of aloe vera gel. This should help turn the mixture into a thick consistency, perfect for a mask.

To add a hint of scent and refreshment, add a couple of drops of peppermint. Apply the mask all over both your feet, using either your hands or spatula, and massage it in well. Leave it on your feet for a few minutes. You can read some of your books or watch one of your favorite programs while you wait.

Then, wash it all off and dry it with a clean towel.

3. Steam Facial

We all love a good facial, and a steam facial is a great way to help clean out your pores, cleanse your skin, and leave your body glowing. It is so easy to make your own steam facial treatment from home. All you need to do is get a bowl and fill it with boiling water from a kettle.

Leave it to cool, so it doesn’t burn your skin. You can then add some essential oils depending on what problem you want to tackle. For example, if you are prone to acne, then add some tea tree oil. If you have oily skin, then add a few drops of lavender oil. Alternatively, if you have dry skin, you can add some rose absolute oil.

Put your face over the bowl, making sure you aren’t too close to the water so you don’t burn yourself. The steam should be over your face. Place a towel over your head to help trap the steam. The steam will open up your pores and will leave you with stunning clear skin.

After the steam facial, you can apply a nice clay mask or just a toner and moisturize.

4. Hand Treatment

We use our hands for everything we do, so it is essential to take care of them. They can quickly become rough, bruised, and get callouses on them, so doing your own spa-worthy hand treatment can be a great thing to do.

You can make a fantastic softening hand treatment by mixing together one tablespoon of olive oil with one tablespoon of sugar and a single teaspoon of either grapeseed or almond oil.

Put some of this scrub onto your hands, and work it into them with circular motions. Do this for a couple of minutes, then rinse off the scrub with warm water. Pat your hands dry with a clean towel.

Add some nice moisturizer, lotion, or other hand creams to finish. Your hands will now feel lovely and smooth.

5. Hair Treatment

You don’t have to break the bank to get shiny, luscious hair. You can make a spa treatment for your hair by creating a completely natural, deep conditioning hair treatment.

Get an avocado and mash it up. Then apply it all over your hair. It might feel strange to cover your hair in avocado, but it will nicely nourish and moisturize it. Your locks will look super fresh and shiny.

If you want a treatment that will enhance the proteins in your hair to help promote growth and hair health, then you should get an egg and thoroughly beat it. Apply this directly to your hair and leave it for about 10 minutes. Then, rinse the egg off with cool water.

6. Milk Bath

Another lovely spa treatment you can do from the comfort of your own home is to have a milk bath. Yes, you heard that right! You need to bathe in milk. Just like the famous Cleopatra did, you should pour yourself a nice bath and then add a few cups of milk powder or whole milk.

An optional addition to help make your milk bath even more luxurious is to add some essential oils of your choice and some honey. You can choose the essential oil based on smell or on the benefit you would like to reap. For example, lavender essential oil is excellent if you have your milk bath before bed.

Then, for an extra treat, why not add some rose petals to the surface of your bath so you can really feel like you’re at a top-quality spa.

If you’re a bit puzzled about why you’re bathing in milk, the lactic acid it contains is excellent for softening the skin. It has also been found that milk baths are good for soothing the skin of people who suffer from psoriasis or eczema.

7. Aromatherapy Shower

When it comes to spa treatments, people usually assume that baths are the most relaxing option compared to showers. However, if you aren’t a massive fan of baths or don’t have one, showers can still make for a great spa treatment.

Get an essential oil of your choice. Lavender is good for if you want to relax, whereas neroli is an essential oil perfect for if you want to gain a bit of energy.

Drop some of the essential oil onto a damp cloth. Lay the cloth down on the floor of the shower so it is positioned in front of your feet. As you have a hot shower, the steam will release the soothing scents of the oils to enable them to bring about their lovely benefits.

8. Skin Brightening Treatment

It is crucial that we look after our skin, and one thing many people try to achieve is to get youthful, bright, and glowing skin. To achieve this look, you need to use an exfoliator. To make your skin brightening spa treatment at home, you can make your very own natural exfoliator.

Get yourself some papaya and pineapple. Blend the papaya with some honey and yogurt until you get a thick consistency. Apply it as a mask all over your face. Leave the face mask on for about 10 minutes, and then rinse it off. You can drink a nice glass of bubbly and eat some strawberries while you wait!

An alternative face brightening treatment you can make is with pineapple. Get yourself some pineapple juice and pour it into an ice tray. Leave it in the freezer overnight. Once the pineapple juice has frozen, gently rub the ice cubes over your face and any other areas of skin you would like to brighten and exfoliate. Once you have done this, wait for about five minutes and then rinse your skin.

Pineapple and papaya are so good for exfoliating and brightening the skin because they contain alpha-hydroxy acids. These can tighten the skin and reduce fine lines, pigmentation, and cleanse it of any dirt or dead skin cells.

9. Eye Treatment

With the business of today’s world, it can be so easy to get tired and stressed, which shows itself through puffiness or dark circles under our eyes. So, to help reduce the puffiness and irritation in your eyes, you can easily create your own eye treatment worthy for any spa.

One lovely treatment you can do is get some chamomile tea bags. Make sure they are cold, and then apply them to your eyes to help soothe the area. Leave on for about 10 minutes. You can have a power nap or play some relaxing music!

Instead of using tea bags, you can use the spa classic of cucumber slices. This also works to soothe your eyes and should be left on for ten minutes for the ultimate relaxing spa treatment.

Alternatively, you can get some cold potato slices and place these over your eyes. It might feel a bit strange to put potato slices on your face, but they have been shown to be great for reducing puffiness in your eyes.

10. Purifying Facial

We’ve already told you about a steam facial, but if you don’t like the sound of that or just want to try something different, then you can make your own spa purifying facial treatment.

Firstly, you need to cleanse and exfoliate your face using a combination of water and oatmeal. Next, you have to moisturize and nourish your face. Do this by using a moisturizer made out of all-natural ingredients. For example, avocado, honey, strawberries, and yogurt are great for creating a soothing cream.

The final step of this purifying facial treatment is to have a make-shift massage. Natural oils such as almond, grapeseed, and jojoba oil are great for this. You simply need to put some of the oil onto your hand and gently massage it upwards, in circular motions, all over your face. This makes for the ultimate, luxurious spa treatment and will leave your skin looking youthful and glowing as it will promote blood flow.

So, who needs to go to the spa to get a top-quality face massage? Not you, as you can now recreate it at home.

It is incredibly straightforward to make your own spa treatments at home. All you need are some natural ingredients to make a scrub, lotion, or bath to treat whatever part of your body you fancy. Light some candles, play some relaxing music, and lay back, feeling stress-free with the fact that you’re enjoying a luxury spa treatment without having to spend ridiculous amounts of money.

Invite a friend or loved one along so you can enjoy your at-home spa together. Why not even invest in some fancy white robes and slippers?!
